I have been working diligently on making quilted table runners for the large craft show in our area. I also had some sweet charm squares I wanted to use for a baby quilt. I love using charm squares (5″ squares of fabric) for lots of different projects.
I used Elizabeth Hartman’s baby quilt pattern for the gender neutral baby quilt. It is smallish and perfect for a newborn or premie. This gave me the opportunity to work with some more “modern” fabrics which I have discovered I love!
For a few of the runners, I just randomly chose squares and sewed them together. I did a straight line machine quilting stitch around the blocks.
For others, I did a disappearing 9 patch. I love how those look like I did a lot of fancy piecing and really all I did was some fancy cutting after the 9 patches were made!
Do you like working with charm packs or do you prefer to pull your 5″ squares from scrap fabrics?
