I found this tutorial from Positively Splended for a portable first aid kit. This would be a great gift for a fisherman, golfer or for any guy to throw in the glove box of his car. Start to finish it took me about 45 minutes to complete.

First aid kit for a guy

I had some scraps left from a wristlet I made. Perfect! One thing I did do differently was make the ties with a piece of fabric (cut roughly 24″ long and 1.5″ wide) as I thought I would like that better than ribbon for the closure.

I bought a small first aid kit from the Dollar Tree for the bandaids and added a few other bits to fill out the little pockets. I only had a handy pack of Puff’s so the pocket is a little distorted. I think I will pickup some of the tissue packs at the Dollar Tree and use one of those instead so that it isn’t so puffy. I didn’t have a lolly pop to add so I inserted a couple of individually wrapped Lifesavers.

I think it turned out really cute. So…hit the Dollar Tree for supplies, grab a couple of coordinating fat quarters, a scrap of thin fusible interfacing, some ribbon (if you choose to use that) and you are ready to go.
